I was recently asked to make an array of dried flower arrangements to dress a new show home, it was a very nice job for a very nice company, Zero C, and the houses look quite different to the usual new developments, a combination of traditional and contemporary, very much my style! They even took some Venus vases and decoupaged stamp boxes which sit very well in the room settings. My dear friend Ann Dickson, a local artist has lent them some of her paintings which work a treat too.
Here’s their promo video, see if you can spot my contributions!
I have been keeping myself busy with a whole host of projects and ideas and will be adding a new range of unique hand crafted goods. I’m starting with one off recycled boxes decorated with lovely vintage stamps. These stamps are so beautiful, some vibrant, some subtle and each a little history lesson! The boxes look great on a shelf or mantlepiece or used to keep wee treasures safe. I will be adding other things very soon, all of them one off original pieces that will add a sense of fun and originality to any home.
Hoping this little post finds you well and like me itching for unlockdown!
“To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow.”
A great quote from a great woman and a great mother herself…though she wasn’t so great with babies apparently, lets’ face it, her words of wisdom would have been wasted on such tiny shoulders!
To celebrate these special women I have named a few Venus Vases after some amazing mothers and will pop in free a little special dried posie tied up with satin ribbon with each purchase.
If you order one on the website email me with a message and her address and I will hand write a card and pop it in the post. Hurry though as it’s only two weeks away!
And the Mothers I have chosen are….
Josephine Baker who adopted 12 children of all nationalities Marie Curie known as the mother of modern physics winner of Nobel prizes, one of which she shared with her daughter Olympias mother of Alexander the Great Emmeline Pankhurst mother of Sylvia and Christabel all movers and shakers for the suffragette movement Michelle Obama great mother of two girls but inspirational to many others
Venus Vase No 8 was named for Flora, Roman goddess of flowers and of the season of spring – a symbol for nature and flowers. While she was otherwise a relatively minor figure in Roman mythology, being one among several fertility goddesses, her association with the spring gave her particular importance at the coming of springtime.
As you probably know virtually all my dried flowers are locally grown, gathered and dried. This year has been very busy and many, long lasting arrangements are now gracing other peoples walls to give months of pleasure. I am starting to run low on certain things so if you want one for yourself or as a gift check the website. Thanks
If you’ve got a loved one who loves nature and beauty and would like a totally locally grown and arranged special something that will last for months, if not years…you may want to consider a dried flower arrangement.
Great for instantly dressing a room and bringing the outside in.
