Celebration time, come on …
“To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow.”
A great quote from a great woman and a great mother herself…though she wasn’t so great with babies apparently, lets’ face it, her words of wisdom would have been wasted on such tiny shoulders!
To celebrate these special women I have named a few Venus Vases after some amazing mothers and will pop in free a little special dried posie tied up with satin ribbon with each purchase.
If you order one on the website email me with a message and her address and I will hand write a card and pop it in the post. Hurry though as it’s only two weeks away!
And the Mothers I have chosen are….
Josephine Baker who adopted 12 children of all nationalities
Marie Curie known as the mother of modern physics winner of Nobel prizes, one of which she shared with her daughter
Olympias mother of Alexander the Great
Emmeline Pankhurst mother of Sylvia and Christabel all movers and shakers for the suffragette movement
Michelle Obama great mother of two girls but inspirational to many others
Hello Flower lovers
As you probably know virtually all my dried flowers are locally grown, gathered and dried. This year has been very busy and many, long lasting arrangements are now gracing other peoples walls to give months of pleasure. I am starting to run low on certain things so if you want one for yourself or as a gift check the website. Thanks
If you’ve got a loved one who loves nature and beauty and would like a totally locally grown and arranged special something that will last for months, if not years…you may want to consider a dried flower arrangement.
Great for instantly dressing a room and bringing the outside in.
I have oodles of gorgeous dried flowers from this year’s harvest, pretty wreaths from £20, garlands and ‘one off’s’ in various vintage goodies. They make the perfect unusual presents that will give joy for months if not years! All grown, picked and dried locally. Will be adding more things regularly.
Get in touch if you want something in particular.
Christmas wreath’s next!
It’s the time of year when I am frantically picking and hanging up to dry as many flowers as I can before the weather changes and the flowers get beyond their best. My house resembles a grotto of hanging beauty. I have recently added to my shop a host of various new dried goodies, from wee wooden embroidery hoops to wildly elegant huge copper rings.
If you are part of the new found love for dried flowers here’s your chance to treat yourself or someone special to an arrangement. Placed out of direct light and in a dry atmosphere they last for ages. All these are grown and dried locally and naturally, no chemicals, very few miles!
A new collection of dried flower arrangements will be available from this afternoon at https://www.facebook.com/smeatongallery/.
Direct commissions are always welcome.
All my flowers are locally sourced in beautiful East Lothian.
I opened the doors to my first workshop as Flowersmith on Saturday. A perfect autumnal day of creativity unfolded helped by guest florist, Marie, over for a visit from France. It was great to see the students at the end of the day happy and clutching their delicate creations on leaving.
